The module provides participants with the competencies required for Singapore's PDPA compliance within the organisation.
Participants will be able to create Data Protection Policy, manage compliance using an online Data Protection Management System via a hands-on and practical based approach where the focus on their organisation's compliance with the PDPA. The course has a heavy focus on hands-on activities and assignments that are given to the participants. It not only trains participants but shows them how to be compliant, with a strong emphasis on information security, complete with their own Compliance Manual, Audit & bundles all the Tools needed.

 | Nicholas Cheong Nick is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) for Europe and Asia, certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He has also been certified by the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (“OCEG”) as a Governance, Risk and Compliance Professional (GRCP) and GRC Auditor (GRCA). Nick has benefited from 25 years of legal practice, managing risks as a diving instructor and as a drug supervision officer. He is from the first batch of PDPC approved trainers when PDPC first launched its data protection course. He has provided data protection training and consultancy since 2014. |
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand and develop a practical approach to the Personal Data Protection Act
- A Singapore Perspective

ASSESSMENTS
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

MODULE EXEMPTION
Participants may be exempted from this module if they have any of the following qualifications:
- DPO Hands-on Course awarded by SMU/Straits Interactive
- PDPA – An Operational Perspective + PDPC Practitioner Certificate in Personal Data Protection*
- WSQ Fundamentals of the PDPA + PDPC Practitioner Certificate in Personal Data Protection*
* Participant must have passed the PDPC-administered examination.
CERTIFICATION
Advanced Certificate in Data Protection Operational Excellence
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 5 modules within 2 years in order to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Data Protection Operational Excellence issued by Singapore Management University.

- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than SGD100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
