Data breaches are becoming more common in recent years with data protection laws requiring mandatory data breach notification - including the new amendments in Singapore PDPA. Knowing how your organisation will react to a data breach is essential and will expedite your response.
The class will be split into teams to undertake an actual simulation of being a spokesperson during a crisis communication briefing. This mock interview will be conducted by a veteran TV/media journalist and participants will get the opportunity to experience first hand, what it feels like to be quizzed by the media.
This module teaches participants how to reduce impact to their organisation and stakeholders in the event of a data breach. Participants will learn about the major issues and challenges, how to manage perceptions and reputations, manage stakeholder communication and understand the hallmarks of a well-handled crisis.

Testimonials
The simulation exercise of a real life breach crisis communications situation is very real and use what we have learnt and operationalised it
Participant at Course
This is a very interesting course as many of us cannot think or answer on the fly. When you are well prepared, you can minimise the negative impact of a breach. If not, you will make it worse than it already is.
Participant at Course
Great to have Jill and Sharon who shared their experiences and guidance on how to deal with the media for crisis communications. Well done!
Participant at Course
Trainers gave very pertinent real life context to enhance the points being put across. We therefore can relate to it better and understand the points being put across. All of them coordinate well to make the presentation very interesting and I appreciate very much what I have learnt from this course. I look forward to more of such courses.
Participant at Course
All the trainers sharing their personal experience and real life events were very helpful for my better appreciation of the topic. Appreciate their inputs.
Participant at Course
It is one of the rare experiences beyond text books and guidelines. Drive the messages well.
Participant at Course
Although I screwed up really badly during the mock interview, it is still one of the most fascinating aspects of the course because it gives me a good idea of what can happen during a crisis interview, what should be prepared, and how flexible we should be when answering tricky questions

This course is very enlightening and eye opening experience especially hearing from the actual media experts. It is also a very good exposure and this has opened our eyes on what needs to be done for a breach if it happens. This is definitely the right course for me.
DPO from Media Production Industry
Attended many courses in Data Protection and GRC with Straits Interactive and SMU, I have always enjoyed and liked all the courses because of the in-depth insights offered, real life examples by actual experts to share their experiences and most importantly I can operationalise the information learnt from all the courses
DPO from Call Centre Service Industry
Whilst we are looking at our own compliance in house, I took it up upon myself to learn more and upgrade my skills beyond DP operation basics. I have done my own research and asked for recommendations from friends, and the Straits Interactive name came up. Straits Interactive branding is very strong and above anyone else in the marketplace. We do have basic courses in the organisation but did not have the depth or roadmap or as comprehensive and advance
Consultant from a Government Organisation
I have learnt a lot from this course and it is different from other courses which I have attended so far, it is a rare experience where we have actual media experts to guide and train us. This is really a higher level of experience and education
Senior Executive in a Shipping Services Organisation
Initially, I have wanted to take only one course from the GRC roadmap but I have found it very relevant, related and interesting that I have decided to take the whole GRC roadmap courses. There are a lot of real life examples that I can resonate with. Also, we had real media experts to share their experiences and a mock scenario as an exercise
Senior Executive in an international software business
After this course, from what I have learnt, I will need to go back to look at our policies and reworked the response plan
Head of Dept in an international insurance brokerage industry
This is a good and useful course to help me put together a good response communication plan even though we had a few table-top exercises and response plan
